Erudite Scribe’s principal writer and editor, Andrew Leggett, is a widely published academic and creative writer. His professional background is in medicine, psychiatry, psychotherapy, creative writing, editing and education. His experience assisting students, doctors in training, postgraduate researchers and academics is extensive, especially those of culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. This is a highly skilled ESL (Englsih as a Second Language) Editor.
Andrew holds the academic titles of Senior Lecturer with University of Queensland and Associate Professor with Griffith University School of Medicine. He graduated in Medicine at University of Queensland in 1985, gained the Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists in 1993, and a research Master’s degree in Creative Writing from University of Queensland in 2006. He is currently a doctoral candidate in Creative Writing within the School of Humanities at Griffith University.
Andrew was editor of Australasian Journal of Psychotherapy from 2006 – 2011 and has guest-edited issues of M/C Media Culture Journal and Hobo Poetry Journal. He has acted as a referee for many other peer-reviewed journals.
In addition to two collections of poetry (Old Time Religion and other Poems Interactive Press 1998 and Dark Husk of Beauty Interactive Press 2006), Andrew has published many academic papers and literary works in peer-reviewed journals. He is an accomplished public speaker. He also has experience in writing workshops, conference organisation, supervision of research, and collaborative administration of community projects.
